Machiya in The rising SUn
Sleeping Giant Design Company in partnership with the Machiya Restoration Society of Kyoto Japan, creates Kyotos very own extensive illustrative Machiya guide titled Machiya in the Rising Sun.
Why Machiyas Matter?
Machiyas are traditional townhouses dating back from WWII and still stand to this day in trational communities through Japan. Machiya homes are vital apart of the Japanese history. Unfortunitly, Machiyas are now facing demolition. Due to the expansion of metropolitan areas, communities are no longer wanting homes and becoming more interested in Tokyo inspired city life and apartment lifestyle living.
Kawaii: (“lovable", "cute", or “adorable”) quality of cuteness.
